I enjoy the process of mining my abstract paintings for compelling compositions that are "cropped" or "framed" out from the whole. It's like discovering hidden dialogues and scenes amongst the chaos and I'm always amazed that there is "anything there" - sometimes it looks pretty hopeless at first glance!
I use little silhouettes of people to indicate scale as I contemplate creating larger works from my sketches, doodles and whatnot. I also enjoy how adding the character into the scene, makes the viewer image they are also seeing the work at this size. Wouldn't it be cool to see 24' x 24' versions of these paintings?! I think so! The "frame" also gives it a gallery feel, as if these are paintings mounted on a gallery wall.
So in the end, this might be a sketchbook for future paintings, or it might be a work unto itself, who knows?
Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoyed your visit.
