Courtney Harris is a visual artist and educator based in Seattle, Washington. She specializes in creating bold, vibrant, expressive acrylic paintings. Her work is typically inspired by daily life--people, places, and experiences that have moved her. Stylistically, her work incorporates elements of commercial art, advertising, street art, and graffiti. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from Western Washington University, with a minor in Sociology. Currently, Courtney teaches at Sprout Preschool in Columbia City, where she gleans creative inspiration from her students.
"In an increasingly digital world, I create as a means to maintain my humanity. For me, art making serves many roles. It is an outlet for self expression, a record of memories, a therapist, a friend, and at times, an enemy. A lot of heart and soul go in to each composition. Physically, some might contain a fingerprint, an eyelash or two, or a droplet of sweat. Occasionally the paint is diluted with tears. My paintings are constructions by and for humanity."
