I encouraged my one-year-old daughter, Tessa to draw in the book with pen. (And not on the table or her clothes!) Then I looked at her drawing and tried to see a simple image in what she'd done. Some were easy to see and some weren't. Occasionally I had to ask my husband if he had any thoughts. I could see a lot of splashing water! No surprise there, she loves water. Then I would draw in pencil and do some hand lettering. Once the book was full I painted some spots with watercolor. Because of the style of collaboration, I haven't tried to keep a running theme or story. Each page is it's own story.
