Trajectories defining my work: early life forces, improvisational movement, ideas which emerge from my study of ancient text, and my work as a psychoanalyst. Painting is a necessity I use in the process of recovering, remembering, repairing, and replenishing my mind, body, and spirit source material. The physical act of making (painting, etc.) synthesizes my cumulative life experience through a continuum from veils of color to densely textured surfaces of saturated color and a subtle to bold linearity.
The art of painting is a life and death struggle. It is a necessity which bridges the gap of time and space and forms a cocoon for my imagination and for my heart to hope with. It is the best way to synthesize and edit experience, tell my story, including the life around me, as well as the life of the unconscious, the dream and the spiritual.
I approached the sketchbook project as yet another wonderful opportunity to be with my work and to share my vision with others; to start a dialogue.
