I am a very lazy artist! I only make art when I have a deadline. I am terribly distracted by the mundane tasks in life, cleaning my house, organizing my life, organizing my art supplies. I teach art to students of all ages. I am able to incite and inspire creativity in other people, and it's such a thrill to see people respond to their artistic abilities that they did not know they had. I chose to do the sketchbook project as a way for me to begin again. I am looking for the simple, unstructured ,creative moments without agenda and concept. I watch my 16 year son draw relentlessly all over his school notes and in his sketchbook. I used to do this. Something happens after an art degree. I love my knowledge and do not discount its importance, but I am in search of those days of just scribbling all over your notes. The work in my sketchbook represents my stress, anxiety, bliss, fear, anger, and most importantly freedom.
