Recently flagged away full-time work and now travelling a lot, mostly in Australia, but also a jaunt or two overseas. In 2015 we visited the USA (including a visit to the Brooklyn Library - oh sheer heaven), Central America, the Caribbean and New Zealand.
So pleased to find this project as it enables me to document a little of what I'm seeing in terms of wildlife - be it a blue shark, fur seal, butterfly, native bird or ghastly looking bug. Each painting has a little twist ... in this sketchbook there's a piece of footwear for you to find.
The planning and painting certainly stretched me as I tried to move away from my usual modus operandi of mega detail. The idea was to loosen up. Had some troubles finding appropriate paper to use which didn't buckle, thus the first few paintings are not so fabulous. You live, you learn.
I'm really happy to share this with anyone who may like my style. As with any artist, it's a constant state of improvement!
