I always carry a sketchbook. It is usually a pocket-sized thing that I make and hand bind because I want to draw on a certain kind of paper and I want it to be just the right size for me to carry around. I use my notebook drawings for many book projects. Current project is to combine my drawings with "found" backgrounds. I gravitate towards weathered, stained and messed up surfaces, photograph them, find ways to mix in my line drawings. Then I write something to go with the artwork. That is how this book, Happy Chance in Plain Sight, got made.
