Margaret Bobb, an impressionistic colorist born and reared in the vibrant arts community of New Orleans, LA, has lived in Boulder County, Colorado, USA for over 20 years. She says, "Drawing was my first love...then I met paint.
My goal in art is to evoke emotions of joy, peace, harmony, and perhaps even a sense of wonder to people as they view my work. Realism used to be very important to me. But, as I've matured, I have found that my focus has changed from recording life to enjoying the sheer act of pushing, pulling or dropping colors onto a surface. I believe that creativity is a reflection of our spirit. There is so much ugliness in the world, I want to bring beauty to people. Much of my art is about color relationships and how light caresses colors.
As I was working on this sketchbook, I explored what color is and how to effectively mix it. I provided some fun facts on color and included quotes on color by famous people. I created mini-paintings especially for this project to show how color looks in different mediums which worked within the confines of the paper provided in this sketchbook. I briefly touched on the subject of color psychology and art therapy. Art has been a part of my own healing process. I am a stage IV ovarian cancer survivor for ten years now. Working on this sketchbook has made me realize that I would like to help others who could benefit from learning to create art.
I have discovered that one of the ways that art enhances our lives is that it speaks to people on so many different levels. It gives us something to ponder on. I hope my art speaks to you."
Margaret Bobb has garnered several awards for her art. Her paintings are enjoyed in both private and corporate collections.
