There are some subjects that I like to paint again and again. The sketchbook project provided an opportunity to work on small paintings of some of my favorite subjects. I painted one page per day. What I liked about the sketchbook is that, once I committed to a page, there was no starting over again. To make this an even greater challenge, I started every painting as a pen-and-ink sketch and avoided pencil and erasures. I finished each painting with a series of watercolor washes. Working in this sketchbook has provided me with a much more rapid and spontaneous approach to painting than I am used to. Committing to one painting a day has provided momentum for my painting process that I intend to maintain in my work in general for the foreseeable future. In addition to making art, some of my interests and passions are listening to music on high-end high-fidelity audio equipment, custom designed by me, learning CAD/CAM software, making things out of wood and plaster, maintaining an extensive music collection, repairing vintage high-fidelity audio equipment, and playing the electric bass guitar in a band. Even though I have filled up the sketchbook today, I will be painting every day from now on.
