A colored pencil artist for almost 25 years, I'm particularly drawn to three subject areas: urban sketching, botanical art, and patterning. The artistic tension referred to in my book title is between those three areas, and the need to balance focusing enough on one to grow, yet not ignoring the others. I've been patterning since I was in my teens and it is essential to my artistic essence, yet somehow I have this sense that it isn't "real" art in the way that urban sketching and botanical art is. That is the other facet of artistic tension I experience.
This book is a setting aside of those reservations and an exploration of patterning as expressed in Zentangle and Zentangle Inspired Art.
