As an artist I collaborate with 2 others as g8artists. We meet on a regular basis for mutual support to discuss art and issues that fascinate and provoke our work. Our work is socially motivated, exploring the challenging role of contemporary art and its relevance in society today.
for the past 15 years we have worked with the National Forest Co.UK, to promote their work., The University of Leicester and the City Museums to explore our industrial heritage.
I'm passionate about the natural environment so want to create an installation regarding deforestation. This sketchbook demonstrates my research and experimental approach. Its about my thinking process, considering the materials, ideas and providing a focus for a final exhibition/installation.
The sketchbook began with the fabric. I took a photograph in a remnant of ancient forest, which was surrounded by old mining sites. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to digitally print the photographic image onto fabric. This inspired me. This together with my love of drawing spurred me on. I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of working with other artists on this international initiative.
