I wanted to share the beauty of the now endangered Redtail Black cockatoo. They can be seen majestically flying, usually in a mating pair, as if in slow motion. Their call can be heard well before you will spot them then they elusively disappear. I wanted to portray their vulnerability and that of their habitat. They have had a long story but it is coming to a short ending.
My work is a hand pulled Lino print, hand coloured, with collage (recycled tea bags and red thread. I love working with Lino prints and representing nature and its vulnerability. The sketchbook project has pushed me out of my comfort zone in being able to share and express my ideas with a wider audience. It has given my courage to try something new and be proud to share it.
I live in the Blue Mountains in Australia surrounded by bush, this is what motivates me. To capture things from nature is what makes creating art worthwhile.
