This was a very exciting undertaking for me, because I don't have my art in any galleries. I paint/draw/mixed media in so many different styles that it's hard to gather up a large enough body of work that's in a recognizable style. For that reason, I chose the theme 'No Worries' and displayed many of the different types of work I do. During my life, I have often tried to become a 'career artist', using that as my main source of income. In the end, I have just surrendered to the muse, painting all the time for my own fulfillment. I love this freedom. If I want to paint loosely in watercolor, that's what I use until the desire strikes me to do something completely different - like exacting pen and ink stipple. When I lose motivation, I'll pull out glue, paper, magazines and found objects - setting to work on a mixed media piece. There are a couple of pages in my sketchbook where I ask the reader to make their own entry, photograph it, and send the image to me. I hope to hear from some readers. I love being part of several high quality Facebook groups and have made friends with talented and inspiring artists. Making art is lonely work. So to keep connected, I hang out at Paint On, Virtual Sketchwalk, and the art pages of a lot of other artists who work I admire. Most of my work is representational. Though I can paint portraits very well, my favorite subject remains landscapes. I love to capture the beauty all around me.I think the medium I am most talented in, is pencil. Yet because it's not taken seriously as 'real art', I don't use it often enough. I think that will change and my next Sketchbook Project will be all pencil drawings.
