I think about my story for a long time before writing or drawing. Months. Then I did a big writing brain dump one morning in a ruled notebook. Over the next few weeks, I started to sketch ideas. I use imaginary, internet and live references as I draw. In the final sketchbook, I draw and write in pencil to allow for editing. I traded books with a friend to reveal and critique. Inking is fun because this is the time that I can finally share with friends, talking and laughing about our process, thoughts, art, death and life while making decisions about line weight. This book gave me time to deeply feel the events of the past year. I love this international project, sharing our art.
