"Ink and Things" is about creating texture and pattern somewhat in the way nature does.
The passion I bring to the pages of this book is a fascination with natural forms, stones and shells in particular, and the way nature appears random. Making marks quickly and randomly is the starting point for most of my work.
We all have a book in us; a story to tell, a daily diary of visual and literary thoughts, journals for recording travels, ideas for the future art works or just a way to take all from our minds and see them on paper, an archive of our existence. I've used the book form or structure many times but always with one overall theme. This project that allows anyone to fill a book with only the measurements as limits just hit a cord for me. I wanted to let my pages be canvases filled with ideas using various mediums that would tell me what the next step should be. This is also an approach to my painting. With the completion of this sketchbook I realized it is only the beginning of the project, Vol. 1.
