With just a pair of scissors, I create intricate, hand cut collages which reflect my Victorian obsession with faeries, flora and fauna. From my large collection of books, prints and pages that are antique, forgotten and foxed with age, I cut out images, categorize them and then eventually piece them together as a part of the complex jigsaw that my collages start out as.
The female face is central to my artwork and acts as a reflection of the natural and sometimes magical world. In my paper parlour, the wallpaper is a living forest, the china cabinet is full of starfish and butterflies live in the teapot. My collages are places where beauty is strange and creatures are curious.
For my sketchbook, I created a paper Victorian Aquarium. Each page has a 'plate' number just like an old book. The creatures on each of these pages live in my aquarium which is like a watery fairyland full of magic and mystery.
