I am an artist and illustrator living in Sydney Australia. My process can be very slow... I tend to think about things for a long time before I commit pencil or pen to paper. I really wanted to create something beautiful that had meaning.
On a recent holiday I went snorkelling and saw large and small pieces of plastic in the water and it broke my heart. It was devastating to see the negative side effects humanity is having on our marine environment. We are at a critical point in the evolution of our planet and we seem to be asleep at the wheel. I wanted to show how pristine and beautiful our waterways can be and how they are now in parts and will be in the future... in fact reality is probably much worse. I adore the sea, animals, my family, chocolate and art supplies - in particular pencils. I am greedy for pencils and can't get enough of them. I hope you enjoyed my sketchbook as much as I did making it. I didn't want to give it up... and I wouldn't mind living with it for a little bit longer. I will have to visit New York to see it again.
