I'm an Illustrator, Graphic Designer and Art Director residing outside of the Washington D.C metropolitan area. I specialize in print design, branding and identity design, website design, illustration. My strong sense of color lends itself to the illustration work which I create primarily in watercolor and mixed medias. I'm a graduate of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, and hold a BFA in Illustration.
The theme of my sketchbook is "Melancholy." The stories in this sketchbook are short words, almost poems and are a pensive sadness, and typically with no obvious cause. I approached this sketchbook during the 2018/2019 Government Shutdown, and like most artists it was an easy way to express melancholy during that time. The book took me 12 days to create and unlike most of my work it was not entire painted. This work is primary, Ink and pencil drawing with mixed media. I worked each spread from end of the book to start, the cover was the last piece of artwork created. While making this book, I wanted to play with mixed media with most of the pages including word attached to a string or a series of strings. I also wanted to have the reader go through a journey of sadness, but having some elements touchable and ultimately forcing the viewer to play along; These can be seen on pages “Civil War” (8–9), “Cancer Beach” (16–21), “Stress” (28–2) and “Paris” *32–33). I wanted the viewer to feel the works, and sometimes having the sketchbook rub off on your hands, capturing a moment or part of the story.
