I am an artist and acupuncturist. Drawing has always been a means of exploration. Pencil marks on a page create form just as lines of energy make up the meridian system of our bodies. The meridians are like the maps and roadways which energy travels. The concept is an organic grid system that's a functional means to diagnose and treat the body. The energy which travels along these meridans in Chinese Medicine is called "Qi". "When the Qi flows, the blood follows". An interpretation of this means when energy moves, it affects denser energy of our bodies. This movement is an integral part of the healing process. And acupuncture is ultimately about that movement and flow. Experiencing acupuncture energy can feel "heavy", "tingly" or even like "pressure" on the body. When this energy gets stuck we experience pain or illness. This can occur in a multitude of ways. But I digress. What I want to talk about here is that energy, the power within us which moves, spins and illuminates our energy fields. This continues to fascinate me. And what motivates me is to somehow capture the idea that energy in motion. And how it creates form. It has been said thoughts create form. Thoughts are a finer vibration which when thrown into the mix of our energy fields do miraculous things. Accent the positive. Finding a way to illustrate this concept is my motivation. I'd say this is a work in progress, but the Sketchbook Project has helped me delineate this concept in my minds eye.
