My name is Jodi. I am a painter. I cringe when I say those words out loud because I always compare myself to others and I never felt good enough. I watched Bob Ross as a child and failed miserably trying to duplicate his happy little clouds. But I always loved the sound of a paintbrush on canvas. It wasn’t until college, while studying for my B.F.A in photography, I got my first painting lesson. I loved it and gained some confidence in the process. But after graduating, life happened and the painting stopped. Fast forward 15 years (ish). I was (still am) in a relationship and in between jobs at the time. I was in a position that allowed me to follow my passion, which is animals (and painting). I painted my dog, Layla. It was one of the first paintings I did that I loved because I loved her. One thing led to another….
These are just a few of the pets I have painted. Many of them are no longer with us. This is my tribute to all of them…and to me…because this is me.
