I'm a 30 year old filmmaker and musician living in Brooklyn, NY. For a long time, especially throughout my childhood, drawing was my favorite art form. It's something I've always enjoyed very much, but sadly in the last decade or so it's become something I'll seldom do. My girlfriend ordered this sketchbook for me as a way to get those juices flowing again and I have to say it's been wonderful. Of course, it was very hard for me to decide which direction to go and what to commit to knowing this sketchbook would be out in the world for anyone to see. I really wanted it to feel like a spontaneous creative stream of consciousness but alas, I'm just too meticulous. I ultimately decided to draw all of the animals that I used to love sketching the most. I drew them in chronological order, starting with the ones that I can still do from memory (my go-tos) and then moving on to the ones I liked to draw by looking at specific images. I also chose to draw them all using a black pen and colored pencils, forcing myself to get it right in one go. Despite the evolution of the style and technique, I think what ties the images together will be clear to anyone who takes a look. I hope you enjoy the things I've left behind!
