My sketchbook is a fantasy journey with uncontrollable flow of mind across the sporadic waves of brain activity that we may experience when we let the conscious thoughts go... Dreaming, day-dreaming, meditating, dissolving in creative process or in music, bathing the soul in the rays of subconsciousness - are unique tools to deform, bend, and liquefy time and reality. How many times have we lost track of time (what is time?)? How many times what we perceived an hour was just a minute, and what we thought was quick in reality (what is reality?) took infinity?
The sketchbook starts from an alarm clock buzzing and a shower of random thoughts one may have first thing in the morning. It launches the carousel of loosely related visual images, each grasping by the tail the previous one and creating the infinite interconnected sketch. Can you guess what will be on the next page? As I speak several languages on daily basis, in my mind they all mix up especially when I'm distracted, so in the sketchbook you will find a swirl of Russian and English, and maybe even Italian if that got registered on the paper; I don't remember, I was not fully present. The (sometimes rhyming) verbal dance weaves into, mirrors and expands the visuals. You will spend maybe a minute (or maybe an hour?) on flipping through this sketchbook. I spent a month (or maybe only an hour over a course of one month?)? The marks on each page will throw you back in time, indicating the moment when each of the sketches was finished (if sketches can ever be considered finished). And after all of this jazz, on the last page, you will realize (or won't) that everything was compressed to just one second.
Let your imagination drive you through, layer upon layer. Search the emotions. Feel the meaning. Let it go. And let's play!
