I'm Julia (or Jules, or Julian - but only on Tuesdays). I'm a graphic design student currently working towards a career in illustration and book jacket design. I'm from Buffalo, NY.
I approached this sketchbook with a desire to share little parts of myself and what motivates me to create. Together with my mom, a f**k-ton of art supplies, and several Spotify playlists, I aimed to become a more productive artist. We started working on our respective sketchbooks during a time when I had put a lot in my life on pause, not least of all my creativity. This project was like a pair of electric nipple clamps, providing a jolt of inspiration to the metaphorical titty that is yours truly.
In my art, I try to encapsulate the feeling of liminal spaces and dreams; of nostalgia, anxiety and surrealism all rolled into one. To capture that magical feeling you get in abandoned places at dusk - like you're alone and not alone.
Well, that's part of the book, at least - the rest is just doodles, current special interests, and whatever pure, unbridled foolishness my brain can produce at any given moment. I hope you get something out of it.
