There are few things in life I like more than sitting down with a steaming cup of herbal tea and a card game with family or friends.
I remember when my hands were too small to shuffle. The anticipation of gaining the ability, with every growing day, to achieve that buttery bridge shuffle was a big deal. A small, but great accomplishment as a child.
For centuries card games have played an integral part in communities, deepening friendships and keeping minds sharp.
Plants and herbs tell a similar story over the evolution of humankind.
This sketchbook illustrates the fondness I have towards the two. What I especially love about Playing Cards and herbs is their ability to stretch over into all corners of the globe. When we look close enough at different cultures, there is so much more that makes us alike than what makes us different.
And the beauty about differences is how they can be worked out, or at least heard, over a card game and a cup of tea.
