Art has always been in my life. It was something I always turned to at home even as a small kid to take me away from whatever. Drawing, doodling, painting. Up until about two years ago, I was, for the most part, a self-taught artist. No classes past the age of 14 or 15. I began classes in oil painting at 45.
This project has done so much for me and created a bunch of "firsts" for me. I've never worked creatively with a deadline. I had never finished a cover-to-cover sketchbook. I got faster in my starting phase of each page...no procrastination allowed on a deadline! I approached each page as a new love and I chose subjects that fit that love - mostly animals, of course - and did my best to put on the page every part of me that I could. I hadn't thought that this project would draw out so much of me, but it turns out, I became way more attached to this project than any other that I have worked on in my life. No idea why, exactly, but I loved the result and hope that whoever "checks" my book will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Now that it has been mailed to the library, I find I am itchy to start the next project! Onward and upward!
