2018 was a very difficult year for me because I could not make art due to my depression. My creativity, motivation, and sense of self were completely smothered during my first year in NYC. The sketchbook project was a way for me to force myself to start making again whatever that might be. And you can see that over the course of the book, I go from more words to more visuals. The stereotype that great art is made by tormented artists is extremely ignorant. Mental illness should never be glorified like that.
