There is beauty and magic everywhere... and as an artist and librarian, I've been taking pictures and making art of places where the forest meets the ocean, animals whisper and carry secrets, and children wait, under enchantment as flowers, trees and other natural objects. Places where rustling sounds lure you down paths, not well traveled or marked. In these places, mystery and miracles abound, intentionally blurred around the edges, for we can never truly see everything as it is. Places where we can only imagine what once was, observing the effect time and stories have on the world, celebrating the beauty of all its imperfections.
Paint, fabric, beeswax, found images and fragments of text appear in all my work, but having the opportunity to participate in the Tiny Sketchbook Project let the floating thoughts and early stages of ideas find a place on the pages. I'm sorry to let it go from my hands, but happy that it will be out in the world.
